Streetwear grew out of skate parks and music scenes, and its heart is simple: a great graphic tee, relaxed shapes and sneakers. You don't need a hype wardrobe — one good oversized tee and a few basics make a dozen outfits. Here are eight.

The anchor: an oversized graphic tee

Pick a tee with a print you actually like — a skate graphic, a bold slogan, a neon skull. Oversized fit, usually with a big back print. Everything else in the outfit is there to support it.

1. Cargos and chunky sneakers

The default. Relaxed cargos in black, olive or beige, the tee loose or half-tucked, chunky sneakers. Add a crossbody bag and you're done.

2. Parachute pants

Light, swishy parachute pants with toggles at the ankle make a graphic tee look current. Keep the tee untucked and let the shapes be big on purpose.

3. Biker shorts and a cap

For hot days: an oversized tee over black biker shorts, a cap, ankle socks and sneakers. Comfortable, sporty and very street.

4. Mini skirt contrast

An oversized tee knotted or tucked into a denim or pleated mini skirt plays loose against short. Add chunky sneakers or boots to keep it street rather than sweet.

5. Wide-leg jeans

Baggy or wide-leg jeans with a half-tucked tee is the easiest everyday streetwear look. Light-wash denim with a black tee, dark denim with a white one.

6. Layered with an overshirt or bomber

An open flannel, an oversized denim shirt or a bomber jacket over the tee. Leave it open so the chest print shows — and the back print shows when you take it off.

7. Joggers, matching colours

Match the tee and joggers (black-black, beige-beige) for an easy tonal look, then add one bright accessory — a neon bag, coloured laces, a printed cap.

8. Colour pop on a neutral base

Neutral bottoms (beige, white, black) with a tee in one loud colour: neon pink, lavender, yellow. The tee becomes the whole personality of the outfit.

Accessories that finish the look

  • Sneakers: chunky, high-tops, skate shoes or clean white low-tops.
  • Bags: crossbody, sling or mini backpack — not a big backpack over a back print.
  • Extras: caps, beanies, silver rings, simple chains, bold socks.

The one rule

Pick one loud thing. A loud tee with quiet pants, or a quiet tee with loud pants. Streetwear looks effortless when one piece leads and the rest follows.
